Terms of Service

The short version: the app is free to use, and a one-time unlock adds three extras. Your collection is yours. Prices are estimates, not promises. Be decent, and don't resell our work. We built it carefully and can't guarantee it's perfect.
Part 1: In Plain Language
🆓 Free, with one optional unlock
Scanning, your collection, imports, backups, deck checks, the phone app and browsing every combo are free. A one-time purchase unlocks three extras: combos with what you own, the deck builder, and the deck editor. There's no subscription. The unlock is for you, on your own computers, up to the number of activations your key allows.
🍜 Can't afford it?
Write to us. We mean it.
💸 If something goes wrong with a purchase
Purchases go through our payment provider's checkout, and their refund terms apply. If that doesn't sort it out, write to us. We're not dicks about it.
📦 Your collection is yours
Everything you put in stays on your computer, and you own it. Please keep backups. We can't recover data we never had.
🏷️ Prices are estimates
Card prices come from public data (Scryfall) and change constantly. They're a guide, not an offer to buy or sell anything. Check a real price before you trade or sell a card.
🔍 The scanner can be wrong
It's good, and it's honest about when it isn't sure, but it can still misread a card. Look before you rely on a match for anything that matters (like selling a valuable card).
🃏 Not affiliated with Wizards
Chaos Cache is an independent fan-made tool. Magic: The Gathering and its card names, art and symbols belong to Wizards of the Coast. We're not affiliated with them or endorsed by them.
🤝 Be decent
Don't use the app to break the law or hurt anyone, don't pretend you made it, and don't resell it or its unlock.
🛠️ As is
We work hard on it, and it can still have bugs. We can't be responsible for losses that come from using it, so keep backups and double-check anything that costs money.
Part 2: The Formal Version
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chaos Cache application for desktop and Android ("App") and the website at chaoscache.com ("Site," together the "Services"), provided by Silicon Scaffolding LLC ("Company"). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. License to Use the App
Subject to these Terms, the Company grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App. Certain features ("Paid Features") require a license key purchased from the Company. A license key is licensed, not sold, for use by the purchaser on the number of device activations permitted for that key, and may not be resold, shared publicly, or transferred except as the Company permits in writing. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3. Purchases and Payment
License keys are sold through a checkout operated by a third-party payment provider (currently Lemon Squeezy), which processes payment and may act as merchant of record. Purchases are subject to the provider's terms, including any refund terms presented at checkout. The Company may, at its discretion, provide keys at reduced or no cost. A license key may be deactivated if a payment is reversed, refunded, or charged back.
4. No Account; Your Data
The Services do not provide user accounts. All data you enter is stored locally on your device, and you retain all rights to it. The Company does not receive, store, or control your data and cannot recover it. You are solely responsible for backups and for the security of your device. See the Privacy Policy.
5. Third-Party Data; Prices and Matches
The App displays card, price, and combination information obtained from third-party sources, including Scryfall and Commander Spellbook. Such information, including prices and automated card identifications, is provided for informational purposes only, may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and does not constitute an offer, appraisal, or guarantee of value. You are responsible for verifying information before relying on it in any transaction.
6. Trademarks; No Affiliation
Magic: The Gathering, its card names, artwork, symbols, and related marks are property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. The Services are not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Wizards of the Coast. Third-party names are used for identification only.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) use the Services in violation of any applicable law; (b) circumvent, disable, or interfere with license verification; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law; (d) remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary or attribution notices; (e) misrepresent the origin or authorship of the Services; (f) resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or license keys; or (g) use the Services to harm, harass, or infringe the rights of others.
8. Intellectual Property
Except for rights expressly granted in these Terms, the Services and all associated content, trademarks, and branding (including "Chaos Cache" and "Silicon Scaffolding") are owned by the Company or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
9. Third-Party Services
The Services may interact with third-party services, including app stores, payment providers, data sources, and any AI client you choose to connect. The Company is not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their privacy practices.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE COMPANY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF DATA LOSS, OR THAT ANY CARD IDENTIFICATION OR PRICE IS ACCURATE.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF USE, OR LOSS ARISING FROM ANY PURCHASE, SALE, OR TRADE DECISION, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE COMPANY'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company and its members, managers, and contributors from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your use of the Services or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time by uninstalling the App. The Company may modify or discontinue the Services at any time. The Company may terminate a license key for material breach of these Terms. Sections concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification survive termination.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where preempted by applicable federal law. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in that State.
15. Changes to these Terms
The Company may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date and, where practicable, noted within the Services. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. Entire Agreement; Severability
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Services. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
